Outstanding landmark of the fortification and church architecture of the 11th cent. The main fortification gate of the ancient Kyiv with an over-the-gate church, built in 1017 -1024. Ruins were reconstructed in 1983.

 

 

 

 

 

THE MARHNSKYI PALACE

The gorgeous blue-and-cream palace designed by the Italian architect Francesco Bartholomew Rastrelli, this beautiful palace was built in 1750 as Kiev residence of the Tsar family . At present the palace is used for ceremonial receptions of presidents and high rank government officials. The Museum of the History of Kyiv conducts exclusive tours to the Marhinskyi Palace

 

 

 

ANDRIYIVSKYI UZVIZ

M. “Kontraktova Plosha”
This is one of Kiev 's oldest streets. It connects the Upper and Lower parts of Kyiv. It has a variety of interesting art galleries and shops, cafes. Also it is a heart of Kiev 's artist community and is a favorite stop for tourists and one of the best areas in Kiev to find traditional Ukrainian crafts and art. It is known for its antiques, but anything made earlier that 1900 cannot be legally exported.

 

 

 

 

MUSEUM OF FOLK ARCHITECTURE AND HABITAT OF UKRAINE IN PYROHIV
Just outside Kyiv
Open from 9am to -5pm .
Reconstruction of the folk architecture and folk life of different regions of Ukraine . Houses, churches, mills, farm buildings, equipment and tools of the 16 -18 centuries. Spread over 150 hectares of beautiful rolling hills countryside. During State and religious holidays various ethnographic groups revive old customs and three ancient Orthodox churches conduct services.


“THE HOUSE WITH CHIMERAS”

One of the most original structures in Kyiv – its facade decorated with sculptures of mythological figures. It was built in 1902 by Kyiv architect Vladislav Horodetsky as his residence. This is the creation of his irrepressible fantasy. Horodetsky was a romantic and passionate hunter, who splashed out on the front of the building a whole world stemming stemming from his creative imagination.
The house was renovated in 2004 and will be used as official residence of the President of Ukraine.
